Samseong-dong Korean BBQ holiday lunch: beef galbi set, Gukbo Garden

Gukbo Garden Samsung Main Branch is a charcoal-grill Korean BBQ restaurant right in front of Samseong Jungang Station in Gangnam, Seoul. On a holiday lunch, the writer ordered the Gukbo beef charcoal galbi set for two: short ribs grilled by staff, grilled green onions, bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) served with icy broth, and pot rice (sotbap) with seafood doenjang (soybean paste) stew. A longtime Samseong-dong resident, the writer rates Gukbo Garden Samsung Main Branch as a rare barbecue spot in the neighborhood that offers both great flavor and good value.

Indian restaurant in Hapjeong with no break time: potato naan, Mandala

Mandala Indian Lounge is an Indian restaurant run by an Indian owner on the 3rd floor of a building near Exit 3 of Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. After tending a vegetable garden plot, the writer stopped in alone for a late lunch, since Mandala Indian Lounge has no break time, and ordered a mango lassi, shrimp makhani and potato naan, plus a free butter garlic naan from the review event. The shrimp makhani, mildly spiced and packed with shrimp, was the standout of the meal.
