Sunset sashimi picnic at Daecheon Beach, Boryeong: 1.4kg Nokdo Susan
Nokdo Susan is a live and half-dried fish shop with 40 years and two generations behind it, on the first floor of Daecheonhang Fish Market in Boryeong, directly across from the mud mart. Two wild flounder and one rockfish, 1.4kg in total and enough for two people, were packed to go for 55,000 won and eaten at Daecheon Beach, a 7-8 minute drive away, as the sun set. The flounder was chewy and the rockfish springy, and with a free serving of sea squirt thrown in, this was the most memorable hour of the whole Boryeong trip.
