Daejeon fusion Korean late lunch after Sungsimdang cake: Usul

Usul (우슬) is a fusion Korean restaurant near Exit 3 of Jungang-ro Station in Daeheung-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon. After cake at Sungsimdang Cake Boutique, the writer stopped at Usul for a second round and ordered clear yangban gomtang (beef broth soup), basil doenjang cream sujebi (hand-torn dough soup), a sweet corn shrimp potato pancake and green tangerine ade, though the gochujang yukhoe and yubu rolls were sold out. For anyone looking for familiar Korean ingredients served in a new way, Usul was a good choice.

Ice cream to share with mom in Konkuk: Joseon rice, Beurre Beurre

Beurre Beurre Konkuk University Rodeo Branch is a French butter ice cream shop on Rodeo Street by Konkuk University Station in Gwangjin, Seoul. After dinner, the writer and her mother ordered a Cheese-lo-berry single cup and a Joseon Rice single cup at 4,700 won each and traded spoonfuls, and the Joseon Rice tasted like injeolmi (sweet rice cake). Beurre Beurre is a good stop when you want an unusual flavor instead of a familiar one.
