Nami-myeon eel restaurant in Cheongju, busy on a weekday: Samhwa Susan
Samhwa Susan is a Pungcheon eel (freshwater eel) restaurant on Daerim-ro in Nami-myeon, Seowon-gu, Cheongju. Even on a weekday the large dining room was almost full of older regulars, and two of us ordered 1 kg of Gochang grade-1 Pungcheon eel for 50,000 won, grilled to a golden finish as the staff directed. The chewy texture stood out, making Samhwa Susan a local favorite worth returning to with parents.
