What did I look for in a children’s supplement?
My younger child is on the smaller side than their peers, so I thought about how to support their nutrition during the growth years. They eat reasonably well, but I wondered whether I should pay separate attention to nutritional balance, so I looked into calcium supplements.

As I compared products, I focused on their ingredient formulas. The one I chose was The Day Tunteun Kids CalMadi Plus K2 Strawberry Flavor.

What is in each stick?
Each stick contains calcium, magnesium, vitamin D3, and vitamin K2. I paid attention to the fact that it included ingredients beyond calcium alone.

I also used the stated 2:1 calcium-to-magnesium ratio as a point of reference when choosing it. Rather than only looking at how much of each ingredient it contained, I wanted to consider the ratio between them as well.

The vitamin K2 is in MK-7 form. The fact that it included K2 alongside calcium and vitamin D was another reason I chose it.
I also checked the product’s label stating that it contains no Japanese- or Chinese-sourced ingredients, as well as its GMP certification mark. Since this is a product for my child, I tend to look at these markings too.

Was one stick a day easy to keep up with?
It comes with 30 sticks, and the routine is one stick once a day. Because they are individually packaged sticks, it was easy to build a daily habit around giving one.

They were also easy to put in my bag when going out, so bringing them along did not feel burdensome.

Did my child like the strawberry-flavored powder?
When I opened a stick, a fine powder poured out softly. The particles looked fine and did not seem overly chalky.

I kept them refrigerated and took them out one at a time. When eaten cold, the sweet-tart strawberry flavor came through more clearly.

At first, I worried whether my child would eat it well, but they said they wanted to open it and eat it themselves. It dissolves softly, so they seemed to eat it like a snack without the burden of chewing. I started it to support my younger child’s nutrition, and I was pleased that they accepted it without resistance.

I am giving one stick a day in place of unnecessary snacks. I chose it after looking at the ingredient formula, but after actually giving it to my child, I found that a flavor they enjoy and easy-to-manage packaging are also important for keeping up the routine.
