Quiet hanok café in Chodang-dong, Gangneung with rafters: Cafe Giwa

Cafe Giwa is a hanok café in a residential alley in Chodang-dong, Gangneung, where the tiled roof and exposed wooden rafters remain in place and window seats look out onto the garden. The order was a Giwa black latte (6,500 won), a mung bean flower latte (6,500 won) and a mugwort injeolmi gateau (7,500 won), enjoyed lightly after a meal, and the nutty black sesame and mung bean stood out. Cafe Giwa is a good escape from the crowds at Gangneung's big sea-view cafés and a calm place to sit with parents.
