Gangneung Korean restaurant, 56,000-won set for four: Saimdang Bueok

Saimdang Bueok is a Korean set-meal (han-sang) restaurant about a 3-minute walk from Ojukheon in Gangneung, Gangwon. Four friends ordered the Ojukheon-han-sang set at 14,000 won per person, 56,000 won in total, and the table came with a spread of banchan (side dishes) plus soup and stew that tasted like a home-cooked meal on the road. Saimdang Bueok is an easy, filling choice if you want Korean food without leaving the Ojukheon–Gyeongpo route.

Gangneung makguksu restaurant: five dishes at one table, Gossi's

Gossi's Donghae Makguksu & Sundubu Kalguksu Main Branch is a makguksu (cold buckwheat noodle) and sundubu (soft tofu stew) restaurant near Gangmun Beach in Gangneung, at 25 Changhae-ro 350beon-gil. Five dishes — mul-makguksu, perilla oil makguksu, spicy sundubu, flying fish roe buckwheat gimbap and gondre buckwheat pancake — were laid out on one table and shared, and each had a different character that made comparing them fun. Gossi's is an easy pick for a group that wants to order widely and taste a bit of everything.
