Sokcho sashimi takeout with extra fin cuts and spicy bone soup: Hoega
Hoega is a budget-friendly sashimi restaurant in an alley off Beonyeong-ro in Sokcho, Gangwon, with both takeout and dine-in. On a fall trip to Sokcho, the writer ordered a medium mixed sashimi platter and spicy bone fish soup (ppyeo-maeuntang) to go and ate it at the hotel: Hoega packed in plenty of fin cuts and sliced the fish thick, so the texture stayed springy. The soup broth was clean and savory enough to finish with rice, and the owner added a portion of sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes) for free.
