Can you enjoy both a café and an activity with children in Yangyang?

I took a late family vacation to Yangyang in Gangwon. While looking for something to do with the children, I visited Cafe Dunchi (카페 둔치), where we could rest by the water and ride an electric boat.

I liked that we could add an activity for the children to the time we spent relaxing over drinks. It was also convenient that the café and activity were in the same place, so we did not have to move around several times.

What can you see from the café’s window seats?

When I entered the café, water and greenery stretched out beyond the large windows. It felt as if the windows were framing the view.

The children also sat by the window and watched outside for a long time. The weather was a little overcast, but it had its own atmosphere. Even without taking the boat, I felt it was a nice place to pause over a cup of coffee by the window.

What did we prepare before riding the electric boat with children?

At first, we only planned to rest at the café, but after arriving and seeing the electric boat, the whole family decided to try it. Before boarding, we put on life jackets and reviewed the instructions. There were sizes for children as well as adults.

How was the 30-minute electric boat experience?

The electric boat we used was available for 30 minutes. We were also given a timer, which made it easy to check how much time remained. We could connect a phone by Bluetooth, so we played songs we liked and moved slowly across the calm water.

The children enjoyed trying the steering wheel themselves. Listening to music and taking in the scenery as a family made the 30 minutes pass quickly. The boat had a roof, which made the sun and sudden changes in weather feel a little less burdensome.

It was also nice for taking photos while sitting across from one another. A photo of our family of four became one of the memorable moments from this Yangyang trip. The experience was not especially tiring, and we could rest at the café afterward, so it fit well into the middle of a family trip.

Where is Cafe Dunchi, and how late can you use it?

Cafe Dunchi is at 295 Ilchul-ro, Yangyang-eup, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province. According to the original post, café hours are 10:00–21:00, with last order at 20:30. Boat hours are 10:00–18:00, which differ from the café’s hours.
