Misa dinner restaurant: truffle butter, garden 3rd floor, Bokkeriu

Bokkeriu (BOKKE;RIO) is a Western restaurant on Misadong-ro in Hanam, Gyeonggi, serving pasta, pizza, risotto and steak. On a cool autumn evening we had the steak set for 2 (₩118,000) on Bokkeriu's 2nd floor: bread with truffle butter, soup, ricotta cheese salad, mushroom risotto and a medium Hanwoo (Korean beef) striploin steak. After the meal we explored the plant-filled 3rd floor and the outdoor views. Bokkeriu is a date-night restaurant in Misa where each floor is as fun to explore as the food.

Korean BBQ in Namyangju for 3 generations, perilla wraps: 2002 Witch's

2002 Witch's Arpeggio (2002 마녀의 아르페지오) is a Korean BBQ restaurant beside the Myojeoksa valley in Wabu-eup, Namyangju, Gyeonggi, serving pork belly in a 25-year jar-aged tomato sauce made without gochujang. Three generations (the writer, her daughter home for a visit and her own mother) took a weekend drive there for the Witch's Jar Cheese Tomato Sauce Pork Belly and a potato pancake, and the whole family loved the perilla-leaf sauce wraps and acorn pancake wraps. Neither too sweet nor too salty, 2002 Witch's Arpeggio is an easy recommendation for a three-generation family meal.

Yangpyeong drive café: bubble toys and pollock roe bread at Dotorigol

Dotorigol Yangpyeong Garden Cafe is a reservoir-view garden café on Godani-gil in Danwol-myeon, Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi. On a day out in Yangpyeong, the writer walked Dotorigol's large outdoor garden and lakeside, enjoyed drinks and bread generously filled with myeongnan (pollock roe) in the big-window interior, and checked out the kids' bubble toys and dog-friendly outdoor space. Dotorigol Yangpyeong Garden Cafe is a Yangpyeong café you visit for the garden, lake and mountain views as much as the coffee.

Pyeongnae-dong Korean BBQ with icy muksabal and fried rice: Jagaljip

Jagaljip Pyeongnae (자갈집 평내점) is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Pyeongnae-dong, Namyangju, serving fresh Korean Handon pork belly in a campsite-style dining room with gravel on the floor. Two friends ordered 180g of fresh pork belly for 9,900 won, with Jagaljip's special green onion salad and soy sauce, icy muksabal (chilled jelly soup) and doenjang stew, then fried the leftover meat with kimchi and gosari (bracken fern) into fried rice. Jagaljip Pyeongnae gets the meat quality, atmosphere and value right, and the blogger plans to return.
