Jongno gyukatsu dinner: jumbo upgrade and yakisoba Napolitan, Ichigyu

Ichigyu Gwanghwamun Branch is a gyukatsu restaurant in the basement level of Leumierre Jongno Town near Jongno, Seoul. Upgrading one gyukatsu to jumbo for an extra ₩12,500 and pairing it with yakisoba Napolitan made for a satisfying dinner, with the striploin gyukatsu crisp outside and juicy inside, and the griddle-fried Napolitan well-seasoned thanks to sausage and bacon. Wide table spacing makes it a solid pick for a date, too.

Hyehwa lunch with tag-and-order and a self-service bar: Omil

Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is a Western-style restaurant in Jongno, Seoul, about a 5-minute walk from Exit 4 of Hyehwa Station. At lunch, the writer used the tableside tag-to-order system to try rubber-duck omurice, gochujang butter pasta and buckwheat soba maki, plus a self-service bar with a charger and water station. The gochujang butter pasta was spicy and rich in a way that suited Korean tastes, and the baby chair made it a good pick for a family meal.
