Pork BBQ in Nam-gu, Ulsan with bean sprouts and rice cakes: Biniljip
Biniljip Suam Branch (비닐집 수암점) is an old-school pork BBQ restaurant in Suam-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan. On a weekend around 5pm, the writer and her husband grilled the 45,000-won Biniljip Han Pan platter of pork belly, pork neck and chewy pork neck alongside bean sprouts, kimchi, bracken and wheat rice cakes. They also fried kimchi and chive jeon (Korean savory pancakes) at the self bar and finished with fried rice. The meat was tender rather than tough, and with its self bar and thoughtful little extras, Biniljip Suam Branch is a place worth going back to.
