Whole perilla seed abalone soba in Sinjungdong, Bucheon: Haehwagaban
Haehwagaban Lotte Department Store Jungdong Branch is a Japanese restaurant on basement floor 1 of Lotte Department Store near Sinjungdong Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. Over lunch with her mom, the writer ordered the eel rice bowl ochazuke for 19,500 won and the abalone perilla oil buckwheat noodles for 15,000 won, wrapping a whole grilled eel in seaweed before pouring broth over the last third of the bowl to finish it as ochazuke. The nutty whole perilla seeds piled on the buckwheat noodles were the best discovery of the meal.
