Songjeong Korean restaurant: squid stir-fry in pot rice, Songjeongok

Songjeongok Songjeong Main Branch is an abalone pot rice hanjeongsik (Korean set-menu) restaurant a 2-minute walk from Songjeong Beach in Haeundae, Busan. On the way home from a hotel staycation, the abalone pot rice set for two (19,000 won per person) came with pork jowl, squid and scallop salad, spicy squid stir-fry, abalone pot rice and nurungji (scorched rice tea). Mixing the spicy squid stir-fry into the abalone pot rice was the most satisfying bite of the meal.

Caffeine-free tea while pregnant at Suwolgyeonghwa, a Songjeong café

Suwolgyeonghwa is a fusion hanok tea café on the 3rd and 4th floors of a building on Songjeong Jungang-ro in Haeundae-gu, Busan, with ocean views from both levels. As a last stop before heading to Busan Station, the writer ordered Louis Wolju, a caffeine-free rooibos blend tea safe to drink during pregnancy, American-style gabae (iced Americano) and the Dalbodeure box of fusion Korean desserts. With Songjeong beach and the beach train in view from the window seats, Suwolgyeonghwa is a 1000% return visit.
