Bean sprout galbi-jjim restaurant near Sangsu Station: Bongmaruji
Bongmaruji Hapjeong is a galbi-jjim (braised short rib) restaurant near the Red Road, between Sangsu Station and Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. Over dinner with friends, the writer ordered the Bean Sprout Bomb Galbi-jjim for 3 (48,000 won) at spice level 2 (Shin Ramyun), scooped out the bean sprouts to simmer shabu-shabu style, and found the meat tender enough to pull apart with chopsticks. Level 2 at Bongmaruji Hapjeong is milder than expected, so spice lovers are better off choosing level 3 or 4.
