Yeoksam eel rice bowl that beat Tokyo's: hitsumabushi at Unagiwa
Unagiwa is a Japanese eel rice bowl restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building on Bongeunsa-ro 30-gil, near Yeoksam Station in Gangnam, Seoul. A Friday evening reservation for two brought two orders of the signature Hitsumabushi Sang, served as a full table setting with salad, chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), toppings and soup, each bowl split into four and eaten plain, then with toppings, then as ochazuke. The verdict after this visit: Unagiwa's eel rice bowl tasted better than the famous one eaten in Tokyo.
