Yeonnam-dong restaurant with bocconcini tomato pasta: Hey Joji

Hey Joji is an American home-meal style Western restaurant on Donggyo-ro 46-gil in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. Arriving at 6:30pm on a weekday with a mom who wanted pasta, we ordered the bocconcini meat chili tomato pasta at 17,000 won and the jambalaya rosé risotto at 17,000 won, and both the creamy burrata and the risotto's firm, popping rice grains delivered. Hey Joji is an easy, relaxed pick for a family dinner date in Yeonnam-dong.

Fried eggplant and xiaolongbao at Cheonghwawon, Daehangno noodle shop

Cheonghwawon Daehangno Branch is a Taiwanese beef noodle restaurant on Daemyeong-gil, a 5-minute walk from Hyehwa Station in Jongno, Seoul, with seating on the first and second floors. Over dinner before a play, xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), knife-cut beef noodles at 10,500 won, fried eggplant and beef fried rice filled one table at Cheonghwawon, and there was already a wait on arrival. The fried eggplant was the standout, and the bill felt like good value for Daehangno.
