Solo lunch near Sinchon Hyundai: Cheonghwaweon Chinese restaurant
Cheonghwaweon (청화원) is a Chinese restaurant specialising in Taiwanese beef noodles and Hong Kong-style dim sum, a 3-minute walk from Exit 3 of Sinchon Station in Seodaemun, Seoul. A solo lunch here meant beef dao xiao mian (knife-cut noodles) at 9,500 won and shumai at 7,500 won in the restaurant, plus guobaorou (sweet and sour pork) at 16,000 won taken home: the noodles, made from dough rested four times, stayed chewy, and the guobaorou's light sauce kept it from going soggy on the way. For a good-value lunch alone near Sinchon and Yonsei University, Cheonghwaweon is the answer.
