Shunsaikubo Hwamyeong is an authentic Nagoya-style eel rice bowl restaurant in Hwamyeong-dong, Buk-gu, Busan, listed in the Blue Ribbon Survey and the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand. At the first weekday seating, the writer and her mom took a room-style table and ordered one hitsumabushi (one eel) at 39,000 won and one raw salmon rice bowl at 17,500 won to share. The eel sauce is savory rather than sweet, the salmon comes thick-cut, and the house-made matcha pudding at the end makes Shunsaikubo Hwamyeong an easy choice for a meal with parents.

No. 1 croissant and Monday rooftop at Yangsan bakery café Choi

Choi Main Branch is a large Nakdong River-view bakery café in Hopo, Yangsan, Gyeongnam. On a Monday morning visit I picked the No. 1 croissant (4,500 won), green onion salt bread (3,800 won) and the signature Moon Embracing the Sun (13,000 won), ate at a full-window seat on the 2nd floor of Choi Main Branch, then watched the river and passing trains from the 3rd-floor rooftop. Leftover bread went home from the self-packing station to share with the kids, and with easy parking and a simple floor-by-floor layout, Choi Main Branch works well for a family outing.
