Mangwon Japanese restaurant with an open-kitchen fire show: Padong
Padong is a Japanese restaurant in Mapo, Seoul, a three-minute walk from Mangwon Station Exit 2 and one floor below street level. Arriving as the first customer of the day at the 11:30am weekend opening, the writer watched the open-kitchen fire show and ordered the steak rice bowl at 13,000 won, basil soba at 13,000 won and a Zero Coke at 3,000 won. The flat iron steak was smoky and tender and the basil soba came loaded with minced pork, so Padong is best visited right at opening if you would rather skip the wait.
