Hongdae restaurant for basil pesto pizza and lasagna: Classicdang
Classicdang is a wood-fired pizza and Italian restaurant on Yeonhui-ro 1-gil in Mapo, Seoul, a short walk from Hongik University Station toward the Gyeongui-Jungang Line exit. At a weekend lunch the order was basil pesto tomato pizza for 24,000 won, classic lasagna for 18,000 won and a coke for 2,500 won, in a relaxed room with outdoor tables out front. The lasagna's tomato sauce was mild rather than heavy, and the pizza dough was just the right thickness, letting a gentle basil aroma and nutty flavour come through.
