Cheongju rice cake café sultteok and an 11am visit tip: Tteokmama
Tteokmama Cheongju Gaesin Branch is a café-style rice cake shop on Bokdae-ro in Seowon-gu, Cheongju, that sells coffee and drinks so you can sit down and eat your rice cakes there. A poster for pizza seolgi (₩2,000 each) pulled us in, and while the pizza seolgi fell short, the sultteok (steamed rice wine cake), choco injeolmi and fruit chapssaltteok (fruit mochi) were surprisingly good. Arrive after 11am rather than at opening if you want the widest choice of rice cakes.
