Sinnonhyeon alley café: butter tteok and snow ice bingsu at Cafe Ssum

Cafe Ssum is an independent dessert café down a side alley off the main street by Sinnonhyeon Station in Seocho, Seoul. With time to kill on a hot day, the writer ordered a small snow ice red bean bingsu (shaved ice with sweet red beans), two iced Americanos, a classic egg tart and butter tteok (chewy rice cake). The bingsu at Cafe Ssum was not overly sweet and was easy for two people to share, making Cafe Ssum a quiet stop when you want to avoid the crowded cafés on the main drag.
