Hongdae steak restaurant: 5 pm date after a perfume workshop, Omil

Omil Hongdae is a European-style restaurant focused on omurice, pasta and steak, on the 2nd floor on Yanghwa-ro near Hongik Univ. Station in Mapo, Seoul. On a perfume workshop date, the writer gave up on the lunch wait at Omil Hongdae, came back around 5 pm and ordered the Omil steak, with its sweet sauce and well-seared crust, and the Rubber Duck omurice, decorated with quail-egg ducks, for around ₩50,000 for two. Verdict: Omil Hongdae is a Hongdae date restaurant that delivers on taste, atmosphere and friendly service.

Weekend lunch Korean BBQ in Geumcheon, Seoul: Daepan set, fried rice

Daepan Sotttukkeong Kimchi Samgyeopsal (대판 솥뚜껑김치삼겹살), Doksan main branch, is a Korean BBQ restaurant that grills pork belly on cast-iron pot lids, on the 2nd floor of the Geumcheon Lotte Castle 3rd complex shopping arcade in Doksan-dong, Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. The writer and her boyfriend had the Daepan Set for 3 (540g, 55,000 won) plus one portion of fried rice at a weekend lunch, and especially liked the kimchi, scallion kimchi, cheese potato and ceiling ventilation system. With group seating, free corkage and 2 hours of free parking, Daepan Sotttukkeong Kimchi Samgyeopsal is also a solid pick for company dinners.

Gadi Station unagidong restaurant date with chicken porridge: Gapposo

Gapposo is a Japanese restaurant in Geumcheon, Seoul, on the first floor of Hyundai Terra Tower Gasan DK near Gasan Digital Complex Station (Gadi Station), serving everything from lunch sushi to dinner courses and aged sashimi. The writer visited Gapposo around 6 p.m. with her boyfriend for the freshwater eel rice bowl (unagidong, ₩20,000). A starter of chicken porridge came first, followed by well-seasoned eel over sauce-soaked rice that never got tiring. Gapposo's unagidong is worth ordering for a stamina boost or a date dinner.
