Haeundae cake shop: mango mini over strawberry-mango, Sijeunikeu

Sijeunikeu (시즈니크) Shinsegae Department Store Centum City Branch is a dessert shop known for seasonal fruit cakes, on the B1 floor of Shinsegae Department Store Centum City in Haeundae, Busan. The writer visited around 7 p.m. on a weekday, weighed the strawberry + mango combination, and took home a mini mango whipped cream cake for 39,000 won; once cut at home, it had plenty of fresh mango inside the sponge, not just on top. The Sijeunikeu mango cake is on the pricey side, but the amount of fresh mango makes the price fair.

Dalmaji-gil Western restaurant: jambon pizza and carbonara, Bueokgan

Bueokgan Haeundae Branch is a Western restaurant with a British vintage classic hotel concept on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan. On a repeat visit, the writer sat at Bueokgan's signature half-moon table and ordered a jambon (ham) pizza, carbonara and 2 Coke Zeros for two, 48,000 won in total, then took the 2 leftover pizza slices home and reheated them in an air fryer. With both the food and the space satisfying, Bueokgan Haeundae Branch is worth recommending for a Haeundae date or a meal with friends.

Eel bowl spot in Songjeong, Busan: kombu vinegar maze udon, Yuok

Yuok is an Osaka-style eel rice bowl (unaju) restaurant near Songjeong Beach in Haeundae, Busan. On a booked return visit, three of us ordered three jumbo unaju sets at 28,500 won each and tried Yuok's maze udon (brothless mixed udon, 12,000 won) for the first time, and thanks to the owner's explanation of the menu we enjoyed it with kombu vinegar too. Yuok's neat set meals and Japanese-style atmosphere are as good as before, making it worth returning to in Songjeong for a date or a family meal.
