Jeonyeokhanjan Hwagok Station Branch (저녁한잔 화곡역점) is a cozy Korean gastropub near Hwagok Station in Gangseo, Seoul, serving a wide range of traditional Korean liquors with cooked dishes to go with them. After a first visit with her boyfriend, the writer brought her mother for dinner and drinks: a potato liquor welcome drink, the gamtae gimbap (seaweed rice roll) and yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) set, and clams steamed in liquor with pasta noodles added. Even her picky mother called Jeonyeokhanjan neat and delicious and promised to come back, making it a good Hwagok Station bar for a family dinner with a drink.

Balsan Station café: autumn terrace, salt bread & cold brew, Byway

Byway Bakers Balsan Station (바이웨이 베이커스 발산역점) is a dessert café and bakery in Gangseo, Seoul, right in front of Gangseo NC Department Store near Balsan Station. On a day off, the writer and her mom stopped by Byway Bakers Balsan Station around 4 PM on a weekday to kill time before a dinner plan. They sat on the terrace because the indoor seats were full and had salt bread, 2 kinds of financiers and cold brew. Verdict: the Byway Bakers salt bread holds its own against the famous salt bread shops in Magok and Balsan, and the financiers are crisp outside and moist inside, so a return visit is a sure thing.

Balsan Station restaurant: mild nakusae, bomb steamed egg, Gungmin

Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch (국민낙곱새 강서점) is a nakgopsae (spicy octopus, beef tripe and shrimp stew) restaurant near Balsan Station in Gangseo, Seoul. A couple who can't handle much spice came back for a weekend lunch, ordered nakusae (octopus, thinly sliced beef brisket and shrimp) made less spicy and added a bomb steamed egg on the side; the nakusae tasted lighter than nakgopsae and the heat was just right. With adjustable spice, a large parking lot behind the building and restrooms inside, Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch is easy for both dates and team dinners.

Gangseo date bar in Seoul with butter clam stew pasta: Jeonyeokhanjan

Jeonyeokhanjan Hwagok Station Branch is a small, prettily decorated Korean bar near Hwagok Station in Gangseo, Seoul. Visiting on a date, the writer was served a welcome shot of potato liquor (gamjasul) and sugar-dusted gunbbang crackers as the free starter, then ordered the signature gamtae gimbap with yukhoe (raw beef) and the butter clam stew, ending the meal with pasta fried in the leftover broth. Between the atmosphere and the food, Jeonyeokhanjan is a Hwagok Station date bar worth a second visit.
