Date-night beef restaurant in Mapo with sesame-oil wraps: Usijang
Usijang Hoegwan is a kkuritsal (beef neck cut) specialty restaurant on Samgae-ro near Mapo Station in Seoul. The writer and her partner ordered the Tupple no.9 kkuritsal perilla-leaf yuksashimi (raw beef sashimi) platter for 55,000 won and the clam beef soup for 14,000 won, wrapping the raw beef in perilla leaves with sesame oil pressed fresh at a local mill, herring roe and jeotgal (salted seafood). With old-market atmosphere inside and one parking spot right out front, Usijang Hoegwan is a solid pick near Mapo Station when you want both raw beef and beef soup in one meal.
