Hoegi Station izakaya bar seats and mentai yakitori: Hamaru Hoegi

Hamaru Hoegi is a wood-toned Japanese izakaya on Gyeonghuidae-ro 1-gil, in front of Kyung Hee University in Dongdaemun, Seoul. On a second-round visit, Hamaru Hoegi served oi tadaki (smashed cucumber) and three yakitori skewers — chicken neck, heart and mentai ansim (pork tenderloin with cod roe) — alongside beer, and the plump cod roe with a little bear decoration on top was the highlight. With bar seats facing the kitchen and outdoor patio tables, Hamaru Hoegi suits everything from solo drinking to a big group night out.
