Why did I use a seat belt clip in my BMW?

When I wore a thick coat in winter or drove long distances, it was uncomfortable when the seat belt rode up toward my neck or felt like it was pressing on my stomach. Since the sense of restriction varied with body shape and clothing thickness, I tried a car seat belt clip.

In the BMW I use, the seat belt would automatically tighten once before setting off. I know it is a safety feature, but in that moment it felt as though my stomach or chest was being squeezed tightly. Passengers also found the unexpected tightening uncomfortable, and it felt even more noticeable on days when we wore thick clothes.

Does compatibility vary by vehicle and seat?

The information I checked before buying said that the K7 and Santa Fe Prime were not compatible with this product.

It also said that even if it does not fit the driver and front passenger seats, it may be possible to install it in the rear seats. It fit my car well, and I mainly used it in the driver and front passenger seats. Compatibility can vary by vehicle and seat, so that is something to check.

How did I attach and remove it?

I installed it by inserting the clip into the existing seat belt buckle, then fastening the seat belt over it again. The design was simple, so the installation process was not hard to understand. It slid in smoothly without much force, and removing it was not difficult either.

How did the material and finish feel?

When I first received it, it felt heavier and sturdier than I expected.

It has a high-gloss finish, alloy material, and a reinforced alloy pin, and the surface finish looked neat. I also liked that it did not leave fingerprints. After attaching and removing it several times, it did not feel loose.

The color was dark black. There was no excessive logo or decoration, so it did not stand out inside the car and made the interior feel tidy.

How were the movement and belt comfort while driving?

After installation, there was almost no sense of shaking or rattling while driving, and the belt position stayed stable. For me, it reduced the feeling of the belt scratching my neck or pressing on my stomach, so it felt more comfortable on long drives. The wearing position simply felt a little more comfortable.

Family members in the front seats also said the belt felt less restrictive. The parts I was satisfied with were the easy attachment and removal, the clean finish, and the minimal movement while driving. Still, this comfort is based on my experience using it in my car’s front seats.
