Gapyeong octopus restaurant for a weekend drive: Paldang Jikhwa Bul
Paldang Jikhwa Bul Jjukkumi is a flame-grilled jjukkumi (baby octopus) restaurant on Hanseo-ro in Seorak-myeon, Gapyeong, Gyeonggi. On a weekend drive out to Gapyeong, the writer ordered the grilled octopus + steamed egg set for two (30,000 won) and a hand-breaded pork loin cutlet (11,000 won), and the unlimited self-bar of tteokbokki, fries and kimmari (fried seaweed rolls) left no room for the fried rice. Between the smoky, spicy octopus, the silky egg custard and the cutlet, Paldang Jikhwa Bul Jjukkumi is a generous stop for a family outing.
