Ansan Korean restaurant for unlimited eel: Songnim Bok Jangeo

I went to Songnim Bok Jangeo Freshwater Eel Unlimited Refill, Sadong Branch (송림복장어 민물장어 무한리필 사동점) in Ansan for dinner with my family. It is a place where you can have unlimited freshwater eel, pork belly, and duck neck. I especially remember the thick texture of the eel and the convenience of taking as much as we wanted ourselves.

What are the prices and selection for unlimited eel?

At the time of my visit, the adult unlimited-refill price was ₩29,900. With the additional ₩3,000 table-setting charge, an adult could have freshwater eel, pork belly, and duck neck for ₩32,900 in total. The price for elementary school students was ₩14,000, excluding the table-setting charge.

When I visited, we were also given a bottle of bokbunja ju (Korean black raspberry wine) as a complimentary service. I had it with the eel.

Was parking and dining with children convenient?

The restaurant is on the first floor at 61 Chodang-ro, Sangnok-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi-do. There was parking directly in front of the building, so parking was convenient.

The dining room was spacious, and child chairs were available. It was comfortable to eat with a child, and I thought it would also be suitable for a family meal or gathering with parents.

What was available at the self-service bar?

For meal dishes, there were eel soup that you cook yourself, yukgaejang (spicy beef soup), buckwheat makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles), and spicy ramen.

The self-service bar also had rice and spicy bean sprout soup.

The accompaniments included shredded ginger, pickled radish wraps, green onion kimchi, pickles, garlic, chili peppers, and lettuce. I could also take ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) and eel sauce, as well as eel, pork belly, and duck neck from the self-service bar.

How was the eel and refill system?

The eel I tried was thick and did not have a fishy smell.

I could take as much eel, pork belly, and duck neck as I wanted directly from the self-service bar. It was convenient that I could bring more to grill right away without having to order a refill separately.

How did I grill the eel?

I placed the eel with the skin facing down and removed the fins. After turning it over and cooking it partway, I cut it into bite-size pieces and stood them up to grill until golden.

The charcoal-grilled eel was crisp outside and moist inside. It had a rich, nutty flavor, so I did not feel that the quality was lower because it was unlimited refill. Partway through, I also grilled pork belly and chewy duck neck.

I also enjoyed pairing the plump eel with bokbunja ju.

My whole family ate until we were full and finished dinner. Being able to have pork belly and duck neck as well as eel, along with child chairs and parking, made this a satisfying family meal.
