Okgil-dong Korean BBQ in Bucheon: pork belly and minari at Mokgumeong

Mokgumeong Bucheon (목구멍 부천점) is a Korean BBQ restaurant specialising in skin-on pork belly and minari (water dropwort) in Okgil-dong, Bucheon, at Yangji-ro 176beon-gil, Sosa-gu. The writer, a regular, ordered skin-on pork belly (180g, 15,000 won) with added minari (5,000 won) and mul naengmyeon (cold noodles), and loved the pork belly and minari that staff grill on a cauldron-lid grill, plus side dishes like Yeosu Dolsan mustard leaf kimchi and pajaeri (scallion salad). With a spacious dining room and a free parking tower, Mokgumeong Bucheon is also a solid pick for group dinners in Okgil-dong.

Blue Ribbon latte café in Jeju City: cream vs. café latte, Gluttony

Gluttony Coffee is a Blue Ribbon latte café on Gunam-ro 2-gil in Jeju City, near Jeju Airport. On a Jeju trip, the writer tried the Gluttony Cream Latte, the Gluttony Café Latte and an Americano with fig cake, and found the blended-milk lattes nutty and smooth. With a free public parking lot right out front and financiers sold in boxes to take away, Gluttony Coffee is a great latte stop before heading to Jeju Airport.

Jeju Airport rice cake shop with an open kitchen: Suragan Tteokbang

Suragan Tteokbang is a rice cake shop on Noyeon-ro near Jeju International Airport, sitting on a main road next to the Shilla Duty Free store, which makes it an easy last stop before a flight home. The writer packed a 20-piece box of omegi-tteok (mugwort rice cake balls), mixing the 6 flavors on offer — tangerine, barley, black sesame, soybean powder, mixed nuts and red bean — and each piece came individually wrapped, so they kept well in the freezer and could be taken out one at a time. The tangerine omegi-tteok was the standout: bright, sweet and the best match for coffee.
