Seolleung izakaya on a half-day off: 9 kinds of nigiri at Sakai
Sakai is a Japanese izakaya on Yeoksam-ro 67-gil near Seolleung Station in Gangnam, Seoul, serving sushi alongside dishes like steamed snow crab and sake-steamed abalone. Taking a half-day off work, the writer booked an earlier-than-usual dinner with her mom and worked through nine kinds of nigiri — uni, flounder, tuna, salmon, scallop, abalone, mackerel, egg and shrimp — ordering two pieces of uni and a second round of tuna. Sakai is popular enough that booking ahead is the safer plan, and the writer would go back without hesitation.
