Anok is a hanok-style Korean restaurant at the end of a stone-walled alley off Exit 9 of Hongik University Station in Mapo, Seoul. At Anok the writer ordered pork tail jjim (braised pork tail), Pyongyang naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) and pork gukbap (pork and rice soup); the leftover pork tail jjim was packed up and eaten the next day, and the naengmyeon was mild enough for someone who usually can't eat it. With jazz playing in a tidy hanok hall, Anok suits both family gatherings and dates.
