Daily Fix Gangnam Main Branch (데일리픽스 강남본점) is a pub-style handmade burger restaurant in the office district near Yeoksam Station in Gangnam, Seoul. The writer and a friend who runs a restaurant ate a bacon cheeseburger (12,900 won on its own, 5,900 won more for a set), a Hawaiian bacon BBQ burger, 18mm-thick fries and spicy coleslaw, and the friend was more impressed by the fries than the burgers. Daily Fix is a clean, not-too-greasy burger spot near Yeoksam Station with well-balanced sides, good for lunch or a stop after work.

Naebang pie café: office snack & drink pairings, Hodukkakki Brothers

Hodukkakki Brothers Bangbae branch is a sugar-free handmade walnut pie shop and café near Exit 8 of Naebang Station in Seocho, Seoul. The writer bought Hodukkakki Brothers walnut pies as office snacks, kept them in the freezer, took one out every day at 4pm, and worked out drink pairings for the pecan, hazelnut cacao, macadamia cheese and cream cheese walnut pies. Verdict: not too sweet and filling for hours, Hodukkakki Brothers is a Bangbae dessert shop worth it for afternoon snacks or gifts.

Retro Korean BBQ in Yangjae: owner-grilled gochujang bulgogi, Gamdol

Gamdol Yeontan Jip Yangjae Citizen's Forest Branch is a 1980s retro-style Korean BBQ restaurant near Yangjaesiminuisup Station in Seocho, Seoul, grilling meat directly over yeontan (charcoal briquettes). On a date after a walk along Yangjaecheon Stream, two of us ordered jul-jul-i special pork neck (15,900 won), gochujang briquette bulgogi (14,900 won), hangover sundubu stew and flat bibim noodles (6,900 won each). The owner grilling the bulgogi himself and the smoky briquette aroma stood out. Gamdol Yeontan Jip is an easy choice for family meals, company dinners or a Yangjaecheon date.
