Hitsumabushi vs unagi maguro-don at Kikukawa, Magok, Seoul
Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa One Grove Branch is a Nagoya-style eel rice bowl restaurant on the corner of the 1st floor of Building A in Magok One Grove, Seoul. A couple ordered one hitsumabushi and one late-August-only unagi maguro don to compare the four-step toppings-and-ochazuke ritual against the eel-and-tuna bowl, and found the eel slicing and setup completely different between the two. The eel was every bit as good as what they've eaten in Japan, so it's a solid recommendation for anyone who loves eel rice bowls.
