Hongdae hanok restaurant with 1,000-won rice and gomtang: Anok
Anok is a hanok (traditional Korean house) restaurant hidden up a staircase on Hongik-ro, on the Yeonnam side of Hongik University Station in Mapo, Seoul. The table at Anok held clear gomtang (beef bone soup), Pyongyang naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) and dwaeji kkori jjim (braised pork tail), with kkakdugi (radish kimchi) and kimchi finished to the last bite and a bowl of rice at 1,000 won. The Pyongyang naengmyeon is mild and may divide opinion, but the gomtang and pork tail jjim alone are reason enough to return.
