Cleansing balm for sensitive oily skin: HEEDA Jirisan Charcoal
In short
HEEDA Jirisan Moist Charcoal Cleansing Balm is a Korean cleansing balm I tried on sensitive, dehydrated oily skin. I applied it to a dry face, emulsified it with water, and found that it removed makeup well without as much tightness after cleansing; I also think its solid format would be convenient for travel.

How did I emulsify and use the cleansing balm?

I spread an appropriate amount over my dry face, then massaged it with my fingers once the balm melted into an oil. I gradually added a little water to my hands to emulsify it before rinsing. Using too much can make it feel burdensome to rinse off later, so I used only an appropriate amount.

When did I do a second cleanse?

I approached a second cleanse differently depending on my skin type and how much makeup I was wearing. On days when I wore makeup, I used a foam cleanser once more; on days when my skin felt dry or sensitive, I thought I could finish with the cleansing balm. In either case, I emulsified and rinsed thoroughly.

How did cleansing balm feel different from cleansing oil?

Because a cleansing balm is a solid formula that melts into an oil on the skin, it felt smooth during massage. Based on the comparison in the original post, I could consider cleansing oil for quickly removing long-wearing makeup or water-resistant sunscreen, while a cleansing balm may be a better fit when dryness or sensitivity is a concern.

What were the texture and feel of the HEEDA cleansing balm like?

There was a spatula and a protective cap inside the lid, but I used my fingers rather than the spatula to scoop it out. The texture was smooth and spread lightly, and I did not find it stiff while massaging.

How did my skin feel after cleansing and around my nose?

I have felt tightness and inner dryness after cleansing with other products, but I felt less of that after using this one. I massaged around my nose a little longer, and felt it also helped with blackhead care. However, this is based on my own experience.

Was it convenient for travel?

As a solid formula that fits in one hand, I thought it would be fine to pack for travel. I also felt it had the advantage of reducing worries about product leaking from being pressed, as can happen with pump-style cleansing oils.
