Hwaseol Gangnam Direct Branch (화설 강남직영점) is a beef and pork Korean BBQ restaurant with an American West mountain cabin theme, set in the food alley between Sinnonhyeon Station and Gangnam Station in Seocho, Seoul. After a wedding photo shoot, the writer arrived at 9 p.m. on a Sunday and had the 400g 1% black beef set (109,000 won), the 550g Korean pork set (69,000 won), seasoned beef short rib (21,000 won per 120g) and a bokbunja highball (9,000 won), all grilled by staff, plus the meat doenjang stew included with the set. Hwaseol Gangnam Direct Branch made a worthy first meal after a diet and is a solid recommendation for proper Korean BBQ in Gangnam.

Sindorim Station jokbal restaurant: ₩69,000 trio set, Sambaekga

Sindorim Sambaekga is a Korean restaurant specializing in jokbal (braised pig's trotters), bossam (boiled pork wraps) and kalguksu, on the first floor of the Prugio shopping arcade right by Sindorim Station Exit 1 in Guro, Seoul. After a 10-minute walk-in wait at 6 pm on a weekday, the Sambaek special set (69,000 won), with jokbal, bossam and fire-grilled spicy jokbal, was ordered alongside a fresh-fruit handmade tray makguksu (9,000 won). Sindorim Sambaekga's jokbal had no gamey smell and the Yakgam pork bossam with persimmon kimchi was satisfying, though the self-serve bar had no lettuce for wraps, so it had to be requested again and again.

Wedding-prep protein clinic + layered cut at Juno Hair, Hongdae salon

Juno Hair Hongdae Entrance Branch is a premium hair salon in Mapo, Seoul, a 2-minute walk from Hongdae Station Exit 2. Ahead of a wedding photoshoot, the writer handed her dry, grown-out long hair to director Sanghyun for a premium hair care course — shampoo, liquid protein, moisture care, steam, a second protein clinic and a scalp massage — plus a layered cut. Six-table Japanese restaurant in Mangwon-dong: shiso futomaki, Padong

Padong is a Japanese restaurant in Mangwon-dong, Mapo, Seoul, a three-minute walk from Mangwon Station Exit 2. On a weekday afternoon the writer ordered futomaki (₩16,000), salmon rice bowl (₩15,000), the seasonal cold soba (₩13,000) and a bottle of Asahi (₩6,000), and the shiso-scented futomaki and thick-cut salmon were the most memorable. With only about six tables, Padong suits solo diners and couples far better than big groups.
