Daesin Peanut Bread (대신땅콩빵) is a peanut bread and egg bread stall at Seomun Market in Jung-gu, Daegu, in front of North Gate 11 of the District 2 shopping complex. During a crowded holiday, the writer took home 45 peanut breads and 2 egg breads for the family, watched them being baked, then reheated some in an air fryer and froze others to eat as 'ice peanut bread'. Daesin Peanut Bread's peanut bread tastes great even straight from the freezer, a sure Seomun Market snack for anyone who loves a nutty flavor.

After-work pork bulgogi at a Gyeongsan Korean restaurant: Cafe Dongi

Cafe Dongi Yeungnam University Art Center Branch is a Korean set-meal restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Grand Performance Hall at Yeungnam University's Cheonma Art Center in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk. The writer arrived 10 minutes after leaving work, ordered two Dongi fire-grilled pork bulgogi sets and two bulgogi yeolmu bibimbap sets, and used the self bar, where fried eggs, five-grain rice, barley gangjeong (puffed barley crisps) and gim (seasoned seaweed) are free. Cafe Dongi is a good pick for clean, neatly prepared Korean set meals at good value.

Daegu izakaya with a draft beer 3+1 deal: Gyodong Nakwon

Gyodong Nakwon is an izakaya in Jung-gu, Daegu, 572m from Exit 3 of Jungangno Station. On a weeknight group night out the writer ordered chicken nanban, motsunabe in medium spice, crab tomalley pasta and beef brisket bean sprout stir-fry, and the crab tomalley pasta — Gyodong Nakwon's best seller — was addictive enough to order a second time. With a draft beer 3+1 deal running as well, Gyodong Nakwon worked well for both the food and the drinking.
