Seo-gu, Daegu BBQ restaurant for grill-your-own raw makchang: Daraewon
Daraewon Makchang Daegu Main Branch is a makchang (grilled beef intestine) and pork belly restaurant on Pyeongni-ro in Seo-gu, Daegu that has been open since 1978. On this visit the writer sat in the hall connected to the outdoor area and ordered one serving of makchang with two servings of pork belly; the makchang arrives raw rather than pre-grilled, so it took a while over the fire, but the thick pork belly seasoned with coarse salt made the wait easy. With doenjang stew at 2,000 won and naengmyeon at 5,000 won, Daraewon Makchang is an easy place to order makchang and pork belly together.
