Kosi Konkuk University Branch (코시 건대점) is a Japanese restaurant on Achasan-ro in Gwangjin, Seoul, specializing in house-made Sanuki udon and katsu. On a Sunday evening with the kids, we ordered the king shrimp katsu set, half-and-half katsu set, udon set and fried chicken, and tried fist-sized king shrimp and udon in an anchovy-kelp broth. Center Coffee Guui East Pole is a specialty coffee shop on B1 of NC East Pole, the mall connected to Guui Station in Gwangjin, Seoul. The writer tried an Americano made with Center Coffee's Icebreaker beans, the seasonal maesil omija tea (green plum and schisandra tea) and a cheesecake, and found the wide spacing between tables looked easy to manage with a stroller. Yangju galbi restaurant for a kid's birthday gathering: Manpo Garden

Manpo Garden (만포가든) is a premium butcher-shop restaurant on the first floor of a livestock cooperative building in Gogeup, Yangju, Gyeonggi. For their second child's birthday, the writer's family met near the in-laws' home and ate pork galbi and gabrisal (pork shoulder cap). The basic table setting also included yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), yukjeon (pan-fried beef slices) and one free naengmyeon (cold noodles) per person. With private rooms for groups of 8 or more booked in advance, plus a free puffed-rice and ice cream dessert bar, Manpo Garden is a good choice for family gatherings with kids.
