Why I looked for a cleansing balm for winter dryness

I have combination skin, and as the weather turned cold, I felt pronounced dryness beneath the surface. Strong-cleansing products seemed to strip away even the oil my skin needed, so I tried this while looking for something that considered both cleansing and a moisturized feel.

What is the texture and how do you use it?

I used the built-in spatula in the lid to scoop out an appropriate amount. When I first massaged it over my skin, the balm softened and melted like an oil against my body heat.

• Scoop out the cleansing balm with the spatula.
• Massage until the balm melts like an oil.
• Add a little water and emulsify thoroughly.
• Rinse several times with lukewarm water.

How did it remove makeup?

I tested it on foundation, lip products, pencil and brush-pen eyeliner, and mascara on my wrist, then used it on my face makeup as well. The makeup felt as though it was melting away while I massaged it, and adding water while continuing to massage caused it to emulsify. I felt that it removed waterproof products well, too.

How tight did my skin feel after cleansing?

The black texture was described as coming from fine charcoal powder. After cleansing, my skin did not feel tight and felt moisturized, and it seemed a little clearer. However, I plan to keep using it and watch for changes related to uneven texture or blackheads.
