1,500-won americano at Gabi Roasting, a Gwangju roastery café

Gabi Roasting is a roastery café on the 3rd floor of a building on Eodeung-daero, across from Honam University in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju. An americano costs 1,500 won, cold brew 14,000 won and a ddungkaron (thick macaron) 2,500 won; the coffee tasted nutty with little acidity, and Gabi Roasting also sells its own beans and handles coffee machine installation, barista training and café startup consulting. A Gwangsan-gu café where honest prices come with real coffee expertise.

Gwangju Korean dinner: cheese fried rice and snow ice, Misikga Imokase

Misikga Imokase Sangmu Main Branch is an imokase (chef's-choice Korean set menu) restaurant in the Sangmu district of Seo-gu, Gwangju, with a main building, a new building and an annex. A weekday 7pm reservation for two at 35,000 won per person brought Korean beef yukhoe (raw beef), samhap bossam (steamed pork with skate and kimchi), spicy baby octopus stir-fry and cheese fried rice, then fruit, Changeok-tteok pumpkin injeolmi and injeolmi snow ice for dessert. A stomach-bursting Sangmu district dinner worth booking again.
