Bigeumdo opened in Cheongdam, Seoul, in 2006 and ran there for 18 years before moving to Sokcho, with the head chef and other original staff moving along with the restaurant. Bigeumdo serves Korean table spreads (bansang) rooted in Namdo (southwestern Korean) cuisine with Sokcho ingredients added, and its main ingredients arrive every morning from producing regions such as Yeonggwang, Wando and Muan.
At Bigeumdo, dishes that need cooking are not made in advance but prepared after the order is taken. Bigeumdo's menu includes Namdo dishes such as borigulbi, skate sashimi, steamed skate and skate pancakes, along with pressure-cooker abalone rice, abalone porridge, dried pollack rice soup, and mulhoe. Bigeumdo has private rooms and group seating for 4–12 people, and offers paid corkage and wine pairing.
