About

Dangjin Oil is an oil mill founded in 1980 by Kim Su-bok in her hometown of Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province, and is now run by her daughter-in-law as the second generation. Dangjin Oil presses its sesame and perilla oils by roasting 100% whole seeds in-house, rather than ground seeds, and pressing them only once, and it manages its washing, roasting, pressing, refining and bottling processes in line with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety's benzo[a]pyrene reduction guidelines.

In August 2022, Dangjin Oil was certified as a Centennial Small Business Artisan (백년소공인) by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. The name 'Dangjin' refers both to the place and to the phrase 'your genuine oil' (당신의 진짜 기름), and Dangjin Oil recommends its sesame oil for seasoned vegetables and salads and its perilla oil for stir-fried and grilled dishes.
