I visited Fresh Farmer’s company-owned store on B1 of the Olympic Park Foreon shopping complex in Dunchon-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul. It is an egg shop selling organic, free-range, and animal-welfare fertilized eggs.

Can you see farming and feed information in the store?

As I chose eggs, I looked over information about egg shell codes and farming environments. It introduced the differences among free-range farming, barn farming where chickens can move freely indoors, and cage farming.

The store stated that it does not sell caged eggs. I was interested in the free-range fertilized eggs.

Farm photographs were displayed in front of and inside the store. I could see the environment where the chickens grow through the photos, and being able to see the feed directly also stood out to me.

There was also egg-related information around the kiosk. Since I usually pay attention to the ingredients my child eats, I looked closely at this information.

The brand information explained animal-welfare farming environments, eco-friendly feed, and natural fermentation technology. I also looked over the information about feed and patents.

How does the egg subscription work?

My favorite part of the store information was the subscription service. It stated that eggs can be delivered to your door on a chosen date and that delivery is free.

I thought it could reduce the hassle of going out to buy eggs whenever I run out.

The service was described as an in-store application: choose a delivery cycle and date, then set up recurring payment. This time, I only reviewed the service information and did not use the actual delivery service.

Which eggs did I prefer after cooking them myself?

When I cooked and compared them at home, the difference in yolk color stood out. I could also taste a difference that suited my palate.

My choice was the free-range fertilized eggs. Their yolks were deeper in color, and I found their nuttiness and flavor stronger. After trying them myself, I wanted to try the subscription too.
