Black goat extract chilled taste test: Heukmidam Blue Ribbon
In short
Heukmidam Blue Ribbon is a black goat extract supplement that I tried in Korea while looking for something my husband and I could take before childbirth. The box contained 30 70 ml pouches, and although the color was as dark as herbal medicine, I found the chilled extract smooth, savory, and easy to drink.

I received this product for free and used it. While looking for something my husband and I could take before childbirth, I got to try Heukmidam Blue Ribbon Black Goat Extract. I was also interested in it as a possible Parents’ Day or Teachers’ Day gift, so I’ve summarized the taste and packaging after trying it myself.
How are the ingredients and production method described?
The product information says it uses 100% Korean female black goats as its black goat ingredient. It also says that 19 plant-based supporting ingredients are blended in, including kudzu root, prepared rehmannia root, dandelion, achyranthes root, angelica root, jujube, and licorice.

The manufacturing information says hygiene is managed at a HACCP-certified facility, with oversight from ingredient selection through packaging. It also states that the extract is made through a long, low-temperature extraction process.
How many pouches are in one box?
When I opened the large box, it was divided into three smaller boxes. Each small box contained 10 pouches, for a total of 30 pouches, and each pouch held 70 ml.

How did I drink it, and what directions did I check?
The directions said to take one pouch at a time, once or twice a day. They suggested shaking it before drinking it cold, or pouring it into a cup and warming it in the microwave. As the weather had become warmer, I preferred drinking it chilled.

The ingredients were listed on the back, so I could check them. For consumption during pregnancy, I thought it would be best to decide after consulting a medical professional.

The color is dark—did it taste gamey?
I poured it into a cup to look at the color. It was very dark, similar to herbal medicine.

Because it was black goat extract, I was worried it might taste gamey. But for my taste, it was clean and smooth without much resistance, with a savory quality too. Personally, I found it more comfortable to drink chilled. I plan to keep taking it with my husband.
