Yangyang café and boat ride at Cafe Dunchi by Namdaecheon
In short
Cafe Dunchi is a café by Namdaecheon in Yangyang, Gangwon, with a water sports center on the first floor. After coffee with my family, we took a six-person electric boat for 30 minutes and watched the sunset; the quiet ride and river view stayed with me.

On this trip to Yangyang, I spent time on Namdaecheon instead of at the beach. I had coffee at Cafe Dunchi (카페 둔치), then went boating with my family at the water sports center in the same building.

Where is Cafe Dunchi, and is parking available?
Cafe Dunchi is near Namdaecheon, Namdaecheon Salmon Ecology Park, and Songi Sculpture Park in Yangyang-eup. It is also a short drive from Naksan Beach and Songjeon Beach.

As I drove along Namdaecheon, a neat two-story building caught my eye. Cafe Dunchi occupies the second floor and the water sports center the first, so I could enjoy coffee and a boat ride in one place.

The address is 295 Ilchul-ro, Yangyang-eup, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon State, South Korea. There is a large dedicated parking lot in front of the building. At the time of the original post, the café was listed as open daily from 10:00 to 20:00, with boat use ending at 18:00.

What views and drinks did I enjoy at the café?
When I went up to the second-floor café, Namdaecheon and the sculpture park came into view through the large windows.

Listening to gentle music and looking out the window, it felt like a good place to take a short break.

Before the boat ride, I ordered an iced café latte and a hot caramel macchiato. The latte was cool and nutty, while the caramel macchiato was sweet.

The owner and staff were kind, which made me feel good while ordering.

Which boat did we choose, and how was it to operate?
The water sports center had three types of boats to choose from depending on group size and preference.

My family chose a round electric boat for six people. After putting on life jackets and learning how to operate it from a staff member, we set off. When I tried operating it myself, the controls were intuitive and not difficult.

Can you enjoy coffee and music on the boat?
When I rode it, the electric boat was almost silent and moved smoothly without strong swaying or jolting. I especially liked being able to bring drinks purchased at Cafe Dunchi onto the boat.

With the river breeze around us, I drank coffee and connected my smartphone to the boat's Bluetooth speaker to play music. My family and I watched as the sky turned orange and the sunset shimmered on the river.

The 30 minutes on the boat felt short. The music I heard with my family, the aroma of coffee, and the sunset view became memories of this trip. It is a place I would like to return to on my next trip to Yangyang.
