Hongdae escape room recommendation | Review of Cube Escape's Pyramid theme (Difficulty: Easy)

Where is Cube Escape Hongdae Branch?
Cube Escape Hongdae Branch is an escape room café on the 4th floor of Mugwang Building, 15 Yanghwa-ro 16-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul. This time I played the Pyramid theme, rated 'Easy' difficulty.
Whenever my friends and I look for a unique date idea or something fun to do indoors, an escape room café is always on the list. This time I went to Cube Escape, a popular spot in Hongdae. I'd been curious about it for a while since they have so many different themes, and this time I tried the Pyramid theme (Difficulty: Easy). It was a level even first-timers could enjoy without pressure, and the facilities and service were satisfying enough that I definitely want to go back.
Being close to Hongik University Station made it really convenient to get to by public transport. The accessibility is great whether you're meeting friends in Hongdae or coming for a date, so even first-time visitors shouldn't have trouble finding it.

Visiting in midsummer: what is Cube Escape like inside?
The moment I walked into Cube Escape Hongdae Branch, the clean and pleasant atmosphere stood out. Best of all, I visited in the middle of summer and the air conditioning was seriously cold, so I could play comfortably the entire time. Escape rooms tend to get you moving and tense, which makes you heat up fast, but the cool interior helped a lot with staying focused.

How easy is the Pyramid theme really?
The staff were genuinely kind. Before the game started, they explained the theme and how everything works in detail, guiding us in a way that even a first-timer could easily understand, which made it easy to start without any pressure. They answered our questions kindly too, which left a great first impression.
The Pyramid theme we played had, true to its name, a concept of exploring mysterious ancient ruins. I can't spoil the actual content, but there was fun in solving hidden devices and puzzles scattered throughout, and since the difficulty was Easy, it was a perfect theme for escape room beginners or for casually enjoying with friends.

Getting hints by smartphone and intercom
What I especially liked was the system of running the game using a smartphone and intercom.
In the past, getting a hint often meant checking a monitor or communicating separately with staff, but at Cube Escape you can get the guidance or hints you need through your smartphone and the intercom, which was much more convenient. The flow of the game never broke, so immersion stayed high, and since you only get help when you actually need it, you could play without any pressure.

What kind of puzzles does Pyramid use?
The puzzle design was varied too. It wasn't just about unlocking padlocks — there was fun in solving various types of problems, and the level was manageable enough for beginners to enjoy all the way through. I think it's a great theme to visit with a friend who's never done an escape room before.

Lockers, slippers and other amenities
Another thing I was satisfied with was the roomy locker size. I could store my bag and belongings with plenty of space, so I never felt inconvenienced by my things during the game. Sometimes lockers are too small to fit your stuff, but here that wasn't a worry at all.

There was also thoughtful consideration for anyone wearing uncomfortable shoes. If you came in heels or otherwise uncomfortable footwear, slippers were provided so you could change and enjoy the game more comfortably. Given how much moving around happens in an escape room, this kind of careful service was really satisfying.

Other themes you can book at Cube Escape Hongdae
Besides Pyramid, Cube Escape had a variety of concepts ready to play. The genres were diverse too, so whether you like horror, mystery-driven themes, or story-focused escape rooms, there's something to match your taste — a big advantage.

The Pyramid theme was more fun than I expected, so I naturally got curious about the other themes too. Next time, I plan to bump up the difficulty a bit and try a new theme.

Is the Pyramid theme worth it for beginners?
If you're looking for an escape room café in Hongdae, I'd recommend Cube Escape. The pleasant indoor environment, kind staff, convenient smartphone/intercom system, and roomy lockers and slippers all showed how much thought went into taking care of guests.

The accessibility was great too, making it satisfying as a date spot or a unique hangout with friends, and with so many different themes, it feels like you could visit multiple times and still find new fun. I'm planning to go back myself to try another theme next time.
